moving day words circle marked on a calendar by a red penIf you are moving here to the Upstate of South Carolina, welcome! This is a great place to live and work. The Upstate is located in the Northwest corner of South Carolina at the foot of the Blue Ridge  Mountains. We have a great location. We’re nearly equal distance, about 120 miles, to Atlanta to the Southwest and Charlotte to the East.

One of the most common reasons people choose to keep home furnishings or personal belongings at a self-storage facility is because of a move. A lot of people have misconceptions about the area. Here are some things you will want to know.

When people think about the Upstate, they think of Greenville. It’s true that Greenville’s downtown, just 8 miles away from our self-storage facility, is a major influence on the entire region. But the city of Greenville is relatively small with just over 60,000 people. The area known as The Upstate is comprised of 10 counties including Anderson County and that gives a clearer picture about the area’s population which is about 1.5 million! A larger population means more business and more activities. We’re located in one of the most popular, and fast growing areas of The Upstate known as Powdersville, a Census Designated Place that includes parts of Greenville, Easley and Piedmont. We’re in Piedmont, on the South East edge of Powdersville.

Our economy is on a firm foundation. The Upstate has the highest concentration of foreign capital investment per capita than any other place in the United States. We have over 250 firms, most notably BMW and Michelin, from 26 different countries. The Upstate is also home to The Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). This is a collaborative research where academia, business, and government come together.

If your move brings you to The Upstate of South Carolina, Powdersville is an area worth considering. And should you need self-storage, we hope you will consider River Road Storage. We’re located at 2531 River Rd Piedmont, South Carolina.
